Description

The Gallogly College of Engineering of the University of Oklahoma has two open tenure-track faculty positions in the area of Sustainable Energy with application to hydrogen technologies. These positions will help build a strong interdisciplinary research cluster that includes the School of Chemical, Biological, and Materials Engineering (CBME) and the School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (AME). This cluster will integrate research in hydrogen production, transportation, storage and utilization with the goal of developing sustainable energy systems. The cluster will focus on a range of topics from innovative, affordable, production methods to large-scale transportation and storage technologies, electrochemical energy systems, and efficient environmentally-friendly combustion processes involving hydrogen. This cluster is aimed at systemically transforming the energy sector into a sustainable and renewable industry.

These positions are part of a large multi-year initiative defined in the Gallogly College of Engineering strategic plan for growth in research and student enrollment. The Hydrogen Technologies cluster is a critical component of one of the Vice President for Research and Partnerships Strategic Verticals of environment, energy, and sustainability. Candidates with experience or interest in working in this newly growing research area should expect to work collaboratively with faculty from disciplines across the college and with industry partners and contribute to our inclusive and diverse community engaged in scientific discovery, developing talent, and providing service. Potential application areas and desirable fields of expertise include, but are not limited to carbon-free technologies for hydrogen production; hydrogen utilization (energy, chemicals, etc.); hydrogen separation, transport, and storage; PEM systems and materials; electrocatalysis, electrochemical energy systems such as hydrogen fuel cells; heterogeneous catalysis for hydrogen technologies; life cycle analysis, supply chain optimization, and systems engineering; combustion and propulsion using hydrogen.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for research as well as teaching. Excellent and innovative instruction, development of funded research projects, effective mentorship and guidance of undergraduate and graduate students, and a commitment to inclusive environments in the classroom, office, and labs are all critical characteristics of the successful candidate.

Qualifications
Candidate Qualifications: Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.
