If so, Captura is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join us. Captura is an early-stage technology start-up with the mission to develop globally scalable carbon removal to support a sustainable future for the world’s climate.
Captura’s unique technology, was developed and proven in Caltech’s laboratories, and uses established electrochemical concepts to enable gigaton-scalable solutions for removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere via direct ocean capture. We capture carbon dioxide using only renewable electricity and ocean water, producing no by-products.
The Electrical Engineer will be joining Captura’s Pilot team with a focus on the operation of Captura’s second pilot system, a 100 ton/year CO2 capture system. Successful operation of the end-to-end technology as a part of the piloting program is a critical business milestone. In addition, this position will work with the engineering team on the design of our next pilot system as well as future commercial systems.
Requirements
Key responsibilities:
- Ability to create electrical diagrams including single line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Develop specifications and support the selection of instrumentation, electrical components; including control cabinets, motors, VFDs, instrumentation, etc.
- Integration, assembly, test, operation, and troubleshooting for a pilot scale oceanic CO2 capture system that includes water/gas handling pumps and electrochemical devices.
- Work with senior engineers and design, fabricate, assemble, test, and install Captura’s pilot system to our coastal sites, and responsible for the onsite operation.
- Foster effective teamwork among engineering staff in a dynamic, fast-paced technical environment.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, electrical preferred.
- Hands-on experience and capability to design, assemble, evaluate, and diagnose industrial-scale liquid/gas handling systems.
- Familiarity with PLC and HMI programming software is preferred.
- Ability to read PFDs, P&IDs, and power requirements.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and in small teams, in a way that enhances team dynamics, and ability to lead and manage small to medium projects.
- Highly motivated to work in climate tech, emerging CO2 capture industry in an early-stage commercial environment.
