Description
CytoTronics is a tech-bio startup spun out from a multi-disciplinary research project from three Labs at Harvard University spanning semiconductor design, chemistry and systems biology. We are building a drug discovery engine based on a platform technology that uses a proprietary semiconductor-bio interface to generate unique cell-biology information. By putting consumer-grade CMOS chips directly into each well of a cell-culture microplate, we enable real-time, live cell electrochemical imaging of cell cultures and ultra-high throughput screening. Our platform allows us to screen parameters that were impossible before, opening up opportunities to generate a unique drug discovery pipeline. For example, quantifying morphological parameters like adhesion and attachment which have direct relevance to inflammation and cystic diseases. Measuring metabolic state, apoptosis/necrosis for cancer applications and electrical parameters for cardiovascular or neurological diseases.
CytoTronics is seeking a hands-on Senior Biologist to design and perform essential cell-biology experiments and help guide cell-based assay development and drug screening efforts. The Senior Biologist should have a broad and deep understanding of cell-biology, cell-based assay methods, and hands-on experience of standard tissue culture practices. A background in studying epithelial cell biology is a strong advantage. Initial focus for this role will be to relate our technology to the current state of the art cell-based assay methods. Candidates must have meticulous work habits, excellent record keeping and organisational skills, and be capable of independently generating precise, reliable, and reproducible data in a timely manner.
Design, plan, and execute experiments using multidisciplinary approaches to relate our technology to current state of the art cell-based assay methods.
· Help maintain cell cultures including cell lines and primary cells.
· Maintain accurate and timely records of research and project activity in electronic notebook.
· Analyze and critique results, noting significant deviations; communicate the results clearly.
· Quickly learn and understand new experimental techniques and technologies.
· Demonstrate skills in multiple techniques and appropriately modify protocols, as required, to suit the changing needs of research or development sciences.
· Participate in the evaluation of licensing and sales transactions as related to the company’s biological research strategies
· Represent the company, as required, including participation in scientific conferences, industry events and public meetings
CytoTronics is an equal employment opportunity employer in the United States.
